In Lackawanna County, the Volunteer Hose Company of Throop is gearing up for its 20th “Wingfest,” a key fundraiser offering online orders and new meal options.
THROOP, Pa. — Chicken wings have become a staple of every Super Bowl spread, and a volunteer fire company in Lackawanna County has been providing the community with the iconic dish for two decades.Â
Volunteer Hose Company of Throop is preparing to host “Wingfest” on Sunday, its most important fundraiser of the year.
The event offers raffle tickets, an option to eat in, and of course, the chance to buy their iconic chicken wings.Â
“It’s our 20th anniversary of doing it. And the demand was there from the public, and they wanted a little bit of a better value for the meals, so we decided to make the 50lber the 50-piece pan as an option this year with celery and blue Cheese,” said Robert Hegedus, President and Firefighter at the Volunteer Hose Company of Throop.
Volunteers say this year they’re offering people the chance to order and pay for their wings online.
