OBITUARY
Elaine J. (Lorah) Merkel, 86, of Muhlenberg, passed away on Wednesday, February 4, 2026. She was the wife of the late Russel W. Merkel. Born in Reading, PA, she was the daughter of the late Warren and Ida (Hafer) Lorah. Elaine graduated from Exeter High School, class of 1957. She loved Disney, going out to dinner, and spending time with family and friends.
Elaine is survived by her sons; Gary L. Merkel, husband of Sandra, of Temple, and Keith W. Merkel, husband of Peg, of Cumru. She is also survived by her grandchildren; Felicia, Lindsey, Kayla, Alex, Riley, and Erin, as well as her great-grandchildren; Sage and Lily. Elaine was preceded in death by her sister Carol Lorah.
Visitation with family and friends will be held on Wednesday, February 11, 2026 from 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm with services beginning at 4:00 pm at Lutz Funeral Home, Inc., 2100 Perkiomen Avenue, Reading, PA 19606.
