It was an exciting day for the Afghan community of Erie.
Community members signed a contract with the Erie Cemetery Association to buy land for 50 graves at Laurel Hill Cemetery.
They held an official signing ceremony at their community center at 4801 Peach Street on Sunday afternoon. This is will a specific place for the Afghan community at the cemetery.
Officials hope this act continues to make Aghan community members feel welcome.
