A man died after falling from a building in Downtown Pittsburgh Thursday morning, public safety officials said.

The fatal fall was reported around 11 a.m. Thursday. Medics pronounced the man dead at the scene. He landed on scaffolding from an unknown height, police said.

Officials did not immediately identify the man.

Liberty Avenue was closed Thursday morning between Market Street and Fifth Avenue.

Detectives are investigating.
