Kaye Ullman

OBITUARY

“It is with sorrow that we announce the passing of Kaye Goldsmith Ullman on July 23, 2025, at

the age of 93. While our hearts are broken, we find comfort in the beautiful memories and

lasting legacy she leaves behind. Kaye was born in Philadelphia. Kaye lived at the Highlands at

Wyomissing for 12 years and was a loving wife to her husband, M. Robert (Cookie) Ullman for

73 years. Kaye was always proud of the fact that her ancestors immigrated to this country in

1835 from Bavaria, Germany and settled in Quincy, Illinois and Wheeling, West Virginia. She

attended Millersville University and met Cookie at a fraternity party at Franklin and Marshall

College. On January 28, 1951, she married the love of her life, Cookie. In September of 1951,

Kaye opened the first preschool program at the Jewish Community Center on North Fifth Street

in Reading. In June of 1952, she gave birth to her only child, Stuart Ullman, who lives in

Sarasota, Florida. Kaye was very active in many community programs and was on the Board of

the Reform Congregation Oheb Sholom Synagogue. In 1980, Kaye owned and managed a

children’s clothing store at the Narrow Fabric Building at Vanity Fair. Kaye and Cookie traveled

extensively throughout the world and every continent. Kaye is survived by her son, Stuart

Ullman, daughter-in-law, Sally Ullman, granddaughter, Tara Ullman McCaffery, great-grandchild

Kalib McCaffery, great-grandchild Jacob Robert McCaffery, and grandson, Alexander Jay

Ullman, Ph.D. Alex is an Assistant Professor at Washington University in Saint Louis, Missouri

and his wife, Kim Blanck, recently appeared on Broadway in the musical, Suffs. A memorial

service will be held to celebrate Kaye’s life at Reform Congregation Oheb Sholom Synagogue at

555 Warwick Drive, Wyomissing. Pennsylvania, at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 29, 2025. We will

all miss Kaye and her beautiful smile.” Henninger Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
