READING, Pa. – The former Reading Eagle building in the 300 block of Penn Street is back on the market.

Reading’s community development director says the building is in the “City Revitalization and Improvement Zone,” or CRIZ, and he hopes it can become a retail or entertainment destination.

That zone allows for certain tax dollars to be reinvested in the area.

A company acquired the building in 2019 and planned to use it for business and shopping spaces. Officials say those plans fell through.

The building is now for sale with an asking price of more than $3 million dollars.
