Weather officials advised that rising temperatures and thawing ice could lead to jams in rivers and creeks in Pennsylvania on Thursday, February 19.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS), “any ice on smaller creeks, the Youghiogheny, and the Allegheny may see some ice movement over the coming days.”
Footage taken by emergency officials in Venango County shows an ice jam on Oil Creek, as seen from the Center Street bridge on Thursday morning.
Officials reminded people to be aware of changing conditions, writing on X: “Ice jam flooding can come with little warning. Make sure to stay vigilant of conditions near rivers/creeks and never drive through flooded roadways.” Credit: Venango County EMA via Storyful
