A small school in Erie, Colorado, that instructs about 750 kids, had a wonderful librarian come up with the idea of a parody video of one of Taylor Swift’s biggest hits. Teachers and teacher librarians in Colorado move on, but doing projects like this, makes those teachers and librarians live on.
‘The Life of a Showgirl’ Spawns Addition Video Produced in Colorado
In early October of 2025, Taylor Swift released, “The Life of a Showgirl,” along with its first single, “The Fate of Ophelia.” The song was a hit, not only because of the subtle references to future husband Travis Kelce. Four months after the song’s and video’s release, Meadowlark’s teacher librarian at the time, Marnie Steele, “dropped” a parody video that she and kids at the school produced.
When you watch the video, you immediately wonder how long it took to put it all together, as it’s not just a “quick thing.” This video is as long as the official video, and incorporates a lot of choreography that must have taken weeks of practice.

There are costume changes, great edits, and actual singing by the librarian and some of the kids. This is the kind of project that the school is known for: Project-Based Learning; the kids not only have fun “doing” something, but learn along the way while putting the project together.
Marnie’s Video Tries to Stay as Close to Taylor’s as Possible
While the video takes place [mostly] in the Curiosity Center of Meadowlark (as opposed to all over the world for Taylor Swift,) the school’s video does have a vacuum, just like at the beginning of Taylor’s video.
