Del Vonvolkenburg waited four years after graduating from Strong Vincent High School before deciding on a tour of duty.

He tried working a few local manufacturing jobs, but it wasn’t for him.

He was living at his parents’ house and wanted to take ownership of his destination.

That’s when Vonvolkenburg turned to the U.S. Army.

The recruiters granted his request to start off in Alaska.

For the next 25 years he proudly served our Country.

Two deployments took a major toll, and he discusses the obstacles in this week’s segment.
