ALLENTOWN, Pa. – Two people are in serious condition and 16 others have been displaced after a two-alarm fire tore through a home in Allentown on Sunday morning.
911 dispatchers say firefighters were dispatched at 10:36 a.m. to a house fire on the 200 block of North 17th Street.
One resident escaped the house to a rear roof and was rescued by firefighters, according to the Allentown fire department.
With additional reports of more people being entrapped, additional paramedic units were called along with a second alarm, fire officials said.
A person was found unconscious on the second floor and was rescued by firefighters, according to fire crews.
Nobody else was found throughout the building upon multiple searches.
Both people were transported to the hospital and are in serious condition, officials said.
Crews brought the fire under control within about 20 minutes.
Approximately 16 people have been displaced from the building which is uninhabitable, according to fire officials.
All other residents self-evacuated and were not injured.
There were no injuries to any firefighters.
The incident is being investigated by the Fire Marshal division.
