Clifford H. Carver

OBITUARY

Clifford Harold Carver, age 78, of Bernville, Pennsylvania passed away on

July 21, 2025 after a battle with cancer. Known to friends and family as Fordy, he

was born on November 10, 1946, in New York City to Clifford Maxwell Carver and

Madeline Smith Carver. Fordy is survived by his sons, Peter Carver (Beth Jensen)

and Tristram Carver (Marina Carver); his grandsons, Cole and Jude Carver; his

partner Maryanne Appleby; his brothers Peter, Robert, and Douglas Carver; his

horse, Caleb; and his dog, Raffles.

He grew up on Long Island, attending Faye School and Glen Cove High

School, before enlisting in the U.S. Marine Corps. He received the Purple Heart

while serving during the Vietnam War. After his service, he went on to study at the

University of Denver and later earned a master’s degree in criminal justice from

Villanova University. After college, Fordy joined the family business, Baker, Carver

& Morrell, a shipping chandlery, and more recently worked for the U.S. Census

Bureau.

His deep love of animals and the outdoors defined much of his life. He was

an avid horseman, president of the Riders of the Wissahickon while living in

Philadelphia, and a volunteer with Middle Creek Search and Rescue for more than

30 years — always riding alongside his cherished labradors. He found joy in fox

hunts, paper chases, and kayaking, never without a loyal dog by his side.

A Celebration of Life gathering will be held at Thunder Ridge Farm, 176

Winding Road, Boyertown, PA 19512 on Saturday, August 30, 2025 at 1:30 p.m.
