John Blanchard

OBITUARY

John Jock Blanchard, of Scranton, passed away suddenly on Sunday.

Born February 12, 1959, in Scranton, he was the son of the late Shirley and Tony Blanchard. He grew up in Dickson City and attended Mid Valley schools. John was a union painter and trade worker and will be remembered as a kind and loyal friendfunny, blunt, and unapologetically himself. He found joy in tinkering, video games, and Sunday drives. After many years of personal challenges, he faced each day with perseverance and strength.

Surviving are his daughter, Nina Blanchard and husband, Mark Gumbrecht; his son, John Dylan; his former spouse and devoted friend, Cindy Johnson; and many relatives and friends.

Family and friends are invited to attend Mass at St. Thomas More Parish, 116 Theodore Street, Scranton, at 10 a.m. Sunday, October 26. No formal services will be held. Memorial donations will go toward a bench at Nay Aug Park in his memory.
