PENNSYLVANIA —More than 2,000 employees at a host of Pennsylvania businesses are facing the harsh reality of either having had their jobs eliminated during the first two months of 2026 or having their jobs vanish in the coming months.

That’s according to documents on file with Pennsylvania Department of Labor & Industry to comply with the federal Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act. The law mandates that employers give a 60-day notice before closing plants or conducting mass layoffs.

The notice goes to affected workers or their representatives, the state’s dislocated worker unit, and the local government.

The largest employer to be laying off workers is Amazon, which is cutting nearly 1,000 employees effective April 28 in Bucks, Delaware, Montgomery and Philadelphia counties. Amazon announced last month that it is closing its Fresh and cashierless Go stores in Pennsylvania and nationwide, although Amazon Fresh will continue to exist as an online brand.

Here is a breakdown of how many employees will be impacted at the various Amazon locations statewide effective April 28:

Philadelphia: approximately 205 employees.Bensalem: approximately 161 employees.Warrington: approximately 144 employees.Willow Grove: approximately 127 employees.Broomall, approximately 189 employees.Langhorne: approximately 157 employees.
