Philadelphia City Council is weighing whether death by suicide among the city’s first responders should be considered a line-of-duty death.
During a hearing on Wednesday, advocates spoke about the struggles families face following a death.
Currently, families of first responders who die in the line of duty receive financial aid and other benefits. This support is rarely available in cases of suicide.
