By a vote of 4-3, Erie County Council voted to pass an ordinance:

“Termination the Services of the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Border Patrol (ICE) Under the Intergovernmental Service Agreement with the United States Marshals Service, Office of Detention Services.”

Democratic Councilmen Rock Copeland, Chris Drexel, Terry Scutella and Jim Wertz all voted, “yes,” while Democratic Councilman Jim Winarski joined with Republican Councilman Charlie Bayle and Councilwoman Ellen Schauerman in voting, “no.”

After over two hours of Hearing of the Public and the voting process, Councilmen Bayle and Wertz spoke about the vote and what they believe it will mean for Erie County residents, moving forward.

Erie County Executive Christina Vogel declined an interview with Erie News Now but we hope to speak with her in the next few days to get more information on how the administration will now proceed.
