ALLENTOWN, Pa. – The brisk autumn chill in the air will quickly turn to a frigid cold winter before we know it.
AAA East Central technicians want to check in on how your car is holding up as the seasons change. On Thursday, they are holding a Battery Wellness Clinic at their office in Allentown.
“This is that time of year to make sure that you’re checking batteries, belts, fluids, etc.,” said Theresa Podguski, AAA East Central Director of Legislative Affairs.
“As we get near those freezing temperatures, the battery is depleted then, so it’s important to have that checked. Last year, AAA East Central responded to more than 270,000 battery-related service calls.”

Podguski said the blistering summer heat can wear and tear on the components inside of a battery.
“It doesn’t take long for them to check. Little bit longer if it’s lower. And then we do have batteries on site that they can purchase if somebody is in need of one,” said Podguski.
Podguski said if you couldn’t make it out to the clinic, it’s best to ask a trusted expert before the temperatures tumble.

“Have that certified mechanic check the car in its entirety, tires, belts, hoses, windshield wipers, all really important to be checked as we head into that winter drive season,” said Podguski.
The clinic is open to everyone and no appointments are needed.
It will run until 2 p.m. on Thursday at the AAA East Central office on Downyflake Lane in Allentown.
