A three-vehicle crash on the Liberty Bridge early Sunday morning killed a passenger in one of the cars.

According to Pittsburgh Police, officers responded to the crash just before 1 a.m.

One of the three vehicles was engulfed in flames with three people pinned inside, police said. Officers put out the fire and removed a man and a woman.

The third passenger, a woman, died at the scene. The Allegheny County Medical Examiner identified her Sunday afteronoon as Laila Makaylea Jones, 25, of Baldwin Borough.

A man in the second vehicle was checked by paramedics at the scene and did not need to be taken to a hospital, police said.

An adult in the third vehicle was taken to a hospital in stable condition. Police did not say if that was a man or a woman.

PennDOT said the Liberty Bridge was closed in both directions, and the inbound Liberty Tunnel was also closed.

By 6 a.m, the crash was cleared and the bridge and tunnel reopened.
