Carolyn M. Glassmoyer
OBITUARY
Carolyn M. (Eckert) Glassmoyer, 72, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 26, 2026, in her Shillington home after an extended illness with loving family by her side. Born in Reading Hospital, she was the daughter of the late Virginia M. (Hoke) and Donald R. Eckert, Sr. She was married for 18 years to her longtime sweetheart James R. Glassmoyer, who passed in 2009.
Carolyn was a graduate of Twin Valley High School, where she was a member of the National Honor Society, before continuing her education at the Reading Hospital School of Nursing. A highly skilled and compassionate nurse, she served for 18 years as a Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist in the hospital’s ICU and CCU units and continued her devoted service in Reading Hospital’s Cardiac Catheterization Lab. for 26 additional years, retiring in 2018 after a remarkable career dedicated to caring for others.
Never one to remain idle, Carolyn also worked as a Pharmacy Technician at the Giant in Shillington from 2006 until 2019. She was a faithful, longtime member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Shillington, where her quiet strength and kind spirit were well known.
Carolyn is survived by her daughters, Dr. Lauren M. Glassmoyer, wife of Dr. Nicholas Vandal, Philadelphia, and Melanie N. Adams, wife of Sean, Shillington, and her beloved grandchildren, Mikayla F. Boyer, Reagan J. Bear, and Everett J. Vandal. She is also survived by a brother Frederick G. Eckert, husband of Veronica, Rio Rancho, NM, a niece Susan Daoust, wife of Jeff, and a nephew David Eckert.
In addition to her husband an parents, Carolyn was predeceased by a brother Donald R. Eckert, Jr., in 1954.
A celebration of Carolyn’s wonderful life will be held at 4:00pm on Saturday. March 7, 2026, in Klee Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 1 E Lancaster Avenue, Shillington, with Rev. Colleen Cox, pastor, Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church presiding. Visitation will be held in the funeral home from 3:00-4:00pm.
The Glassmoyer family would like to thank all of Carolyn’s friends and extended family members for their support and care during her illness.
