Scranton, Pennsylvania – Ice accumulations up to two tenths of an inch could lock up roads across northeast Pennsylvania and the western Catskills beginning at 7 a.m. Tuesday, creating slick travel through both the morning and evening commutes.

According to the National Weather Service in Binghamton, a Winter Weather Advisory runs from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday for Steuben County in New York and Bradford, Susquehanna, Wyoming, Lackawanna and Luzerne counties in Pennsylvania. Snow totals up to one inch are expected, followed by a light glaze of ice.

Farther east in Delaware and Sullivan counties in New York and Wayne and Pike counties in Pennsylvania, advisories last until 3 a.m. Wednesday. Those areas could see up to two inches of snow and as much as 0.20 inches of ice, especially in higher elevations. Southern Oneida and Otsego counties are under advisory from 9 a.m. to 1 a.m. Wednesday.

Interstates 81, 84 and 86 may develop slick bridges first, particularly near Scranton, Wilkes-Barre and Monticello. Valley temperatures are expected to rise into the mid-30s Tuesday afternoon, limiting icing there, while hilltops remain near freezing.

Drivers should slow down and check 511NY and 511PA for live updates. Icy sidewalks and untreated roads could linger into late Tuesday night in higher terrain.
