PITTSBURGH, PA — The Allegheny County Health Department has ordered the shutdown of a city bar because of numerous health code violations.
The bar that now is closed is Eggheads on Brookline Boulevard in Brookline.
An inspection on Tuesday identified an active sewage backup in the bar’s basement. The staff was passing through the affected areas to access the soda rack.
Also noted was evidence of chronic, unattended backups such as dried toilet paper pulp, water damage and calcium buildup.
Additionally, the kitchen’s three-compartment sink is permanently blocked by plywood and pink residue was discovered in the soda gun holster.
There also were no notices directing employees to wash hands posted in both restrooms.
A “closed” placard is posted at an establishment when an imminent health hazard is identified at a restaurant or kitchen or if it has been operating without proper permits.
