Shelby Hartland netted the clinching goal, as No. 2 Holy Cross defeated No. 7 Forest City in penalty kicks, 1-0 (4-2), on Thursday night to advance to the District 2 Class 1A girls soccer semifinals.

Alaina Scassellatti, who had eight saves, Natalya Musto and Liza Froncek added penalty kicks for the Lady Crusaders (11-5-2), who will face No. 3 Holy Redeemer, a 12-1 winner over No. 6 Lakeland, on Saturday at 11 a.m. at Schautz Stadium.

Cora Seamans had six saves for Forest City (5-9-1).

Blue Ridge 3, Dunmore 1: At Blue Ridge, Myra Woosman had two goals and an assist to lead the Lady Raiders to a win over the Lady Bucks in a Class 1A quarterfinal.

Hailey Champang added a goal, and Paige Orner tacked on an assist.

Amelia Joseph had Dunmore’s goal.

Blue Ridge will play at No. 1 Montrose, a 2-0 winner over Wyoming Seminary, on Saturday at 11 a.m.

Boys soccer

Jacob Ivey had a hat trick to lead No. 5 Pittston Area to a 3-2 victory over No. 4 Wallenpaupack in the District 2 Class 3A boys soccer quarterfinals at Wallenpaupack.

The Buckhorns had a 2-1 lead at the break, thanks to two goals from Colby Bonagura, but Ivey scored on two direct kicks with less than 20 minutes remaining to seal the win.

Pittston Area advances to Tuesday’s semifinals to face off with the winner of No. 1 Abington Heights and No. 8 Honesdale, which is scheduled for Friday.

Dallas (12-6-1) advances to Tuesday’s semifinals to face off with the winner of No. 2 North Pocono and No. 7 Crestwood, which is scheduled for Friday.

Abe Hobson-Tomascik scored Dallas’ third goal, while David DaSilva and Luke Tellis both had assists.

Logan Cabrera hit the net on a penalty kick for the Cougars (9-10), while teammate Ethan Namlick had the team’s second goal.

Tunkhannock 2, Mid Valley 0: At Tunkhannock, the No. 3 Tigers scored twice in the second half to pull away from No. 6 Mid Valley.

Caden Newswanger scored off an assist from Martin Ortiz in the 57th minute to give the Tigers a lead before Ortiz hit a penalty kick in the 69th minute to extend the lead.

No. 3 Tunkhannock will travel to No. 2 Riverside in Tuesday’s District 2 Class 2A semifinals.

Egbert’s goal at the 26:45 mark gave the Black Knights a 1-0 lead at the break, while Egbert and Aiden Gallagher scored in the second half. Kolby Shook added an assist in the victory.

Andrew Chapple stopped three shots for Lehman, while Jordan Marisco had 11 saves for Scranton Prep.

Louis-David Jolin had one goal and two assists for the Blue Knights. Artur Zelenko, Ivan Pantepajevs and George Rolland all had goals.

Elk Lake’s Gage Schupp had 28 saves in the setback.

Wyoming Seminary advances to Tuesday’s semifinals and will host either No. 3 Holy Cross or No. 6 Blue Ridge, which is scheduled for Friday afternoon at Schautz Stadium.

Lake-Lehman 3, Lackawanna Trail 0: At Lake-Lehman, three Black Knights scored as Lehman blanked Trail in the District 2 Class 1A semifinals.

No. 2 Lake-Lehman will take on No. 1 Wyoming Area in Wednesday’s championship at Wilkes-Barre Area.

Gianna DeCesaris opened the scoring in the first quarter off an assist from Kate Hynick, while Ady Perlis hit the cage in the second quarter off Alexa Thompson’s assist.

Hynick gave the Black Knights a 3-0 lead in the third off Olivia Oliver’s assist.
