Kris D. Calkins
OBITUARY
Kris D. Calkins, age 53, formerly of Port Carbon and Shavertown passed away Tuesday, October 21st, 2025. He was a resident of Laurel Center, Hamburg, PA for the last 4 1/2 years, due to complications of his MS.
Kris is survived by his parents, Mary Ann and Dave Calkins of Port Carbon, an aunt and two uncles (esp Rich), and cousins.
He was a 1990 graduate of Nativity High School and attended Drexel University. His work career began with the Pa Dept. of Welfare as a worker in the LIHEAP program. Kris then transferred to the Prison at Mahanoy as a Records Specialist. He then worked at the Dallas Prison, also as a Records Specialist until his MS progressed to the point he could no longer work.
Kris was very active before the diagnosis of MS. He participated in the Bike New York races, jumped out of planes, belonged to a bowling league, read every Stephen King book avallable, wrote poetry, and enjoyed taking long walks.
Kris made his wishes clear -no services or viewing. He wanted everyone just to be a litle kinder to one another.
