One of the first Lehigh Valley locations for a drive-thru coffee chain has moved closer to opening after Allentown planners conditionally approved it Tuesday.

7 Brew hopes to open a two-lane drive thru at a former Boston Market restaurant at 385 S. Cedar Crest Blvd., where it could serve up to 25 vehicles making on-site orders for coffee, teas, lemonade, slushies and energy drinks.

Franchisee Travis Odom said before the location can move forward, he’ll resubmit the proposal to the city with implemented feedback such as pedestrian access and a bicycle rack.

The drive-thru would operate 5:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 5:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday, according to city documents.

It is the second 7 Brew that Odom has presented for Allentown, following the potential 2952 Lehigh St. location that planners considered and tabled last month due to traffic concerns.
