(WBRE/WYOU) — Philadelphia courts are issuing a statewide consumer fraud alert: They’re urging the public to ignore text messages that say you failed to pay a PA Turnpike toll.
The headline on the text message says: “Notice of Hearing – TOLL VIOLATION.”

The courts strongly advise consumers to ignore these texts and not scan the QR code.
If you are a victim of this scam or received one of the text messages, authorities say to call your local police department, contact the PA Attorney General’s Bureau of Consumer Protection at 800-441-2555, or reach out to the Federal Trade Commission online.
