U. MACUNGIE TWP., Pa. — People were taking advantage of the warm weather Monday as temperatures hovered around 70 degrees.
There were signs of spring everywhere in Upper Macungie Township in Lehigh County.
The warm weather brought out the father-daughter rivalry at Grange Park. Dad was playing hooky from work today.
“I’m coming for you, Dad! Just watch out!” joked daughter Catharine Aboulhouda. “I think we can get pretty competitive. It starts fun, but if the score’s tight, we amp it up.”
“She’s whipping me. No mercy for dads,” laughed dad Mike Aboulhouda.
Grange Park was filled with families taking advantage of the later sunset. Near the playground, it’s a sunrise for Skye, a 16-week-old cockapoo, ready to stretch those legs for her first spring.
“She’s named after Paw Patrol, because she’s a cockapoo, like the Skye from Paw Patrol. She’s actually my daughter’s sixth birthday present,” said Jeanne Subbenaik.
Winter winds have given way to warm, gentle breezes. Memories of winter quickly melt away, and although it’s only March, it seems nobody wants to go back to cold weather.
“Especially with daylight saving time now, it’s a little bit brighter longer, so we have more of the day to have fun and come to the park and play. Very happy and full of life,” said Erin O’Boyle.
Even people who like winter, after having warm days like this, say hard to go back to the winter temps. But colder temperatures are coming as we head toward the end of the week.
