Joseph Avanzato

OBITUARY

Joseph Avanzato, 93, of Reading, passed away Sunday, March 1st, at his residence.

Joseph was born in Reading on May 4, 1932, a son of the late Carmela (Calerba) and Luigi Avanzato and was the widower of Ruthanne (Howe) Avanzato.

He had over 37 years total service as a Steel Worker at Carpenter Technology.

Joe prided himself in understanding the worth and hard work of those in the service industry by being a generous tipper. He was a gifted gardener. He took care of maintaining mulitiple family gravesites by planting flowers and keeping them watered and weeded, several times a week for decades, and had a beautiful garden for years at his home. He liked cooking with the produce he planted and from the farmer’s market. He enjoyed watching horseracing and going to the track on occasion. He loved his family and was thankful for a long fulfilling life.

Joseph is survived by his two daughters, Jolene Ewing, wife of Kelley Ewing, of West Norriton; Jodi Avanzato, companion of C. Andrew Hess, of Robesonia; and son, J. Jeffrey Avanzato, of Muhlenberg; eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He was predeceased by son, Jon Louis Avanzato.

Services are private at the convenience of the family.
