Isolated to scattered severe thunderstorms are possible Wednesday afternoon after a warm and humid day where temperatures approach records, the National Weather Service says.
March 11 high temperature records in the region include: 73 in Allentown, 74 in Philadelphia, 77 in Reading and 72 in Trenton, all recorded in 2021. Record lowest warm temperatures were 44 in Allentown in 2006, 54 in Philadelphia in 1955, 51 in Reading in 1955 and 51 in Trenton in 1955.
A cold front will move through the area Thursday morning and its precursor may spawn the afternoon storms.
“Cannot rule out some half-inch to quarter size hail along with the potential for an isolated tornado,” the morning forecasters discussion said.
