READING, Pa. – A quiet neighborhood turned into the scene of a deadly shooting early Sunday morning. Now, investigators say someone at a nearby party knows what happened, and they want that person to come forward.
Police say they found the victim on Oak Lane in Reading, lying between two parked cars.
“Officers got to the area. They discovered an individual laying between two vehicles. That individual, despite life-saving efforts, passed away, and he was deceased at the scene,” said Berks County District Attorney John Adams.
Adams says it all started just before 5 a.m., when police responded to reports of gunfire. They say the victim had been at a party nearby, on Lorraine Road.
“A search warrant was executed at the location of where the party was. Officers found a number of spent casings in the area, and a cell phone was found, and other items were found that will hopefully lead us to information pertaining to this homicide,” Adams said.
This is normally a quiet neighborhood. But now, it’s the center of an active homicide investigation.
“It took place in an area which is not normally where we see any violence whatsoever,” Adams added.
Investigators believe someone at that party knows what happened, and they’re hoping they speak up.
“We are looking for any and all information that we can gather in regard to the individuals who attended this party in the 1200 block of Lorraine Road, because we do believe that the homicide is directly related to this party,” said Adams.
Police have not released the victim’s name yet. Anyone with information can contact Reading Police at 610-655-6116 or submit an anonymous tip to Crime Alert Berks County at 877-373-9913.
