An 18-year-old from Lehigh County died after a crash early Thursday on Interstate 78.
The man, from Upper Milford Township, was driving on I-78 westbound near mile marker 54 in Lower Macungie Township around 5:10 a.m. when he hit a traffic sign, sending his vehicle into a ditch off the right side of the road, according to a state police news release.
He was taken to Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest, where he died from his injuries about an hour later, Coroner Daniel A. Buglio said.
The man’s identity is being withheld to allow his family and friends to mourn, the coroner said. An autopsy will be scheduled to determine his cause of death. The Lehigh County District Attorney’s office is assisting state police in the investigation.
