BERN TOWNSHIP, Pa – Here’s the airplane problem.
“Hangar space in the northeast is very limited,” said Zackary Tempesco, director of Reading Regional Airport.
But the Reading Regional Airport in Bern Township has been taking some calls.
“So, most folks that call us will be looking for hangar space. We’re always looking to bring more customers in so that’s why we’re looking for more hangar space at Reading,” Tempesco said.
Reading Regional is looking to address that problem.
“We anticipate in the next months to break ground on two new hangars at the airport,” said Berks County Commissioner Christian Leinbach. “One will be built by the airport authority. One will be built by a customer.”
That customer will be Gaming Leisure Properties Inc, which already stores some planes here. Not to mention NetJets.
“Netjets already has a hangar here. They’ll be looking to open a maintenance facility, hiring their own employees and working on aircraft,” said Tempesco.
Who is NetJets, you ask?
“Netjets is the largest fraction owned charter company in the world at this time. They’ll be working on their jets from the northeast region that come into the area and need service,” he added.
