Lake Erie College in Painesville hopes to attract more local students to higher education and make the school more affordable with its new Cuyahoga Connect Scholarships.

The scholarship is for a flat rate tuition of $7,500 per semester, or $15,000 per full year, for new full-time students from Cuyahoga County. Those rates are locked in for four years to ensure students can complete their quest for a degree without financial stressors.

The move is intended to help students continue their education close to home while not having to worry about monetary factors. The funds from the scholarship go directly toward tuition and fees. Additional costs may apply to students who chose to live on campus or join an athletic team.

“The Cuyahoga Connect Scholarship reflects our commitment to expanding access to higher education for local students,” Lake Erie College President Jennifer N. Schuller said in a news release. “We’re proud to invest in the future of Cuyahoga County graduates and help them stay connected to opportunity right here in Northeast Ohio.”

Lake Erie College in Lake County features programs from business to education to STEM. Its athletic teams compete in NCAA Division II.
