Catherine T. Corcoran

OBITUARY

Catherine T. Corcoran, of the Hill Section of Scranton, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 11th, 2026 at CMC Geisinger Medical Center after a brief illness.

Catherine was born in Scranton on January 12th, 1945, the daughter of the late John H. and Mary OConnor Corcoran. She was a graduate of Cathedral High School in Scranton. She earned a B.A. from Marywood University in Elementary Education, attended the University of Scranton receiving an MBA, M.S. in Education and M.S. in Data and Analytics along with certification in Education Administration. Catherine was employed by the Scranton School District for 49 years as a Kindergarten teacher and finished her career working as a Math Specialist in Elementary Education.

Catherine was a lifelong member of Immaculate Conception Church and dedicated volunteer as a Eucharistic Minister and Church food pantry. She was an avid Lake Scranton walker, weekly bridge player, loved her trips to Maine and in her early years enjoyed painting Pennsylvania scenery with her uncle Joe OConnor.

Catherine is survived by brother Joseph Corcoran and wife Susan of North Fort Myers, Fl; sister-in-law Mrs. Thomas Corcoran (Susan), Camden, ME; an aunt; nieces, nephew; grand nieces, nephews; and many cousins. She is preceded in death by brothers John and Thomas, and sister Ann.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, March 17th, at 10am at Immaculate Conception Church, 800 Taylor Ave., Scranton. Visitation will be from 9am10am prior to Mass. In honor of The St. Patricks Day holiday and Catherines love of her Irish heritage, the wearing of green is encouraged.

Interment will be private at Cathedral Cemetery, Scranton, PA.
