TITUSVILLE — The Community Blood Bank of Northwest Pennsylvania & Western New York is embracing the spooky season with themed blood drives designed to combat the ongoing blood shortage. The “Starve a Vampire, Give Blood” campaign will run throughout the month of October, encouraging community members to be heroes this Halloween season.
The Community Blood Bank is the sole provider of blood to all local hospitals, and every donation is vital to ensuring a stable supply for patients undergoing surgeries, cancer treatments and trauma care. The Community Blood Bank urges all eligible individuals to consider donating and help save lives at the Titusville YMCA blood drive from noon to 5 p.m. on Oct. 30, 510 W. Main St., Titusville.
The blood donation process is a simple three-step procedure that generally takes about an hour from start to finish. It begins with registration and a private health screening to confirm eligibility, which includes a mini-physical. The actual donation takes about eight to 10 minutes, and is then followed by a brief rest period with refreshments to ensure donors feel well before leaving.
Donors who participate in the “Starve a Vampire, Give Blood” campaign will receive a special Halloween-themed T-shirt.
Call (814) 596-3395 to schedule your appointment to donate. Appointments are encouraged to reduce wait time but are not required. Walk-ins will be taken as space allows.
