Restrictions in place along several Western Pa. roads due to downed trees, wires
WEST MIFFLIN. I’M JORDAN CIOPPA, PITTSBURGH’S ACTION NEWS FOUR. THOUSANDS OF LOCAL HOMEOWNERS ARE STARTING THIS WEEK THE SAME WAY THEY ENDED LAST WEEK WITH NO POWER. CLEANUP CONTINUES FROM FRIDAY’S WINDSTORMS. TREES AND WIRES ARE DOWN AND POWER IS STILL OUT. WE GOT A CALL FROM NEIGHBORS ALONG PRESIDENTIAL DRIVE IN ALLISON PARK. THE STORM LEFT THIS UTILITY POLE DANGLING ACROSS PART OF BABCOCK BOULEVARD. THE POWER LINES ARE THE ONLY THING HOLDING IT UP. ROADS IN THE AREA REMAIN CLOSED WHILE CREWS WORK TO FIX THAT ISSUE, AND NEIGHBORS TELL US THEY’VE BEEN PATIENT, BUT THEY’RE GROWING TIRED OF WAITING. SEEMS LIKE A SITUATION THAT THEY SHOULD PUT HIGHER UP ON THEIR PRIORITY. AND THEY JUST SAID THAT EVERYTHING IS GIVEN THE SAME PRIORITY, WHICH I UNDERSTAND. BUT YOU KNOW, THERE SHOULD BE SOME SORT OF CASES WHERE, YOU KNOW, LIKE THIS THAT ARE SEEM KIND OF SLOW. IT NEEDS TO BE DONE A LITTLE BIT SOONER. LOCAL TREE COMPANIES HAVE BEEN BUSY ALL WEEKEND LONG. THIS IS WHAT DRIVE IN FOREST HILLS NEIGHBORS TELL US. THEY’RE STILL WITHOUT POWER. AND YARDS ARE LITTERED WITH DOWNED LINES. AND AS WE HEAD INTO MONDAY, TENS OF THOUSANDS OF POWER CUSTOMERS REMAIN WITHOUT SERVICE. AT LAST REPORT. DUQUESNE LIGHT WAS WORKING TO RESTORE MORE THAN 38,000 CUSTOMERS. IN A STATEMENT, THEY SAID THEY ARE WORKING TO HAVE EVERYONE BACK ONLINE BY MONDAY AT 11 P.M., AND WEST PENN POWER IS REPORTING A LITTLE MORE THAN 13,000 OUTAGES. THEY SAY SOME OF THOSE CUSTOMERS WILL NOT SEE SERVICE RESTORED UNTIL MONDAY AFTERNOON OR EVENING, AND THERE ARE SEVERAL ROADS IN THE AREA THAT ARE STILL CLOSED BECAUSE OF DOWNED TREES AND WIRES. THEY INCLUDE PARTS OF NOBLE’S TOWN ROAD IN COLLIER AND PARTS OF BULL CREEK ROAD AND BAKERSTOWN ROAD IN FAWN TOWNSHIP IN ALLEGHENY COUNTY IN BEAVER COUNTY. WATCH FOR DOWNED TREE ON BRODHEAD ROAD IN HOPEWELL. ALSO, CLOSURES ALONG DOGWOOD DRIVE AND HARMONY ROAD AND DOUGHERTY TOWNSHIP IN LAWRENCE COUNTY. THERE IS A CLOSURE ON SHO
