BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Two popular Bethlehem dining establishments have joined forces to offer Easter fun for local families while raising funds for a good cause.

Apollo Grill and Tavern at the Sun Inn will host a children’s Easter egg hunt to benefit The Kindness Project, 11 a.m. to noon Sunday, March 29, in the Sun Inn Courtyard, 564 Main St., Bethlehem, Apollo Grill owner Rachel Griffith told 69 News.

Participants should meet inside Apollo Grill at 10:45 a.m. to register.

“I’m really excited because a lot of us at the restaurant are moms, and on Saturdays, we can’t really participate in a lot of the family activities because we’re always working,” Griffith said.

“So, since we are closed on Sundays, we thought this would be a fun way for our staff members, their families and other local families to enjoy some Easter fun for a great cause.”

Restaurant workers will stuff around 900 plastic eggs with candy, stickers and other fun items, and a select number of eggs also will have numbers inside them corresponding to larger prizes such as chocolate bunnies, Griffith said

Admission to the event will be $10 per person (children and adults), and 100% of proceeds will be donated to The Kindness Project, an Emmaus-based nonprofit organization that supports foster families throughout eastern Pennsylvania, Griffith said.

The nonprofit, established nearly 10 years ago, supplies foster families with free clothing, shoes, car seats, beds and other essential items.

To avoid overcrowding, the egg hunt itself will be limited to 60 children (under 10 years old), Griffith said.

Tickets can be purchased by emailing apollogrill@yahoo.com. The deadline to register is March 24.

The event also will feature donated pizza from Bethlehem’s Sotto Santi Pizzeria Pub, and additional complimentary snacks along with non-alcoholic beverages such as water and juice boxes will be available, Griffith said.

Also, The Tavern at the Sun Inn will have a cash bar on-site, and $1 from each cocktail sold will be donated to The Kindness Project, Griffith said.

Apollo Grill, operating since 1999 at 85 W. Broad St., is a downtown Bethlehem dining staple known for its diverse menu of tasty dishes, including an expansive selection of appetizers, along with unique cocktails, friendly service and a lively and fun atmosphere.

After previously serving as general manager, Griffith took over the restaurant in 2017 from former owners Rod and Dyanne Holt and Patty and Tucker Lyons.

Tavern at the Sun Inn, which opened in 2016, offers a unique colonial-modern fusion menu along with a full bar inside a mid-18th century building that’s welcomed famous guests such as George Washington, John Adams, Benjamin Franklin and Alexander Hamilton.

In opening the tavern, the owners aimed to preserve this rich history while creating a casual, relaxed dining experience with colonially reflective food and a one-of-a-kind atmosphere.

Tavern at the Sun Inn and Apollo Grill also both offer seasonal outdoor dining.
