Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst in South Jersey issued a FPCON Charlie on Tuesday afternoon due to suspicious packages reported on the base.

“Security Forces and our first responders immediately responded, secured the area, and determined the packages posed no threat,” the military wrote on social media just after 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

Initially, the base had issued an FPCON Charlie, which is applied when “an incident occurs or intelligence is received indicating some form of terrorist action targeting personnel or facilities is likely,” according to the Defense Logistics Agency.

FPCON Charlie is the second-highest force protection level for military installations, according to the DLA.

“We are grateful for the quick and professional actions of our first responders whose vigilance helps keep our community safe every day,” the military wrote on the base’s Facebook page.
