A 25-year-old man was shot in the face Monday in Northampton County, according to authorities.

Forks Township police were called to the 2900 block of Meadow Lane Drive about 3 p.m. Monday, and when they arrived they found a man shot in the left side of his face, according to Capt. Shawn Hummer.

He was taken to a nearby hospital, then later taken to University of Pennsylvania Hospital for surgery, the captain said. He said Wednesday morning that the man was in serious but stable conditions. Initially investigators were told the shooting happened in Phillipsburg, then Easton, but it eventually was determined the shooting happened in Forks Township at a different location than where police responded.

Hummer said the shooting is still under investigation and he could not comment on it further. The incident was isolated, he said, and there is no danger to the public.
