You should always rinse your bottles and containers before recycling and never include contaminated waste such as soiled tissue or greasy pizza boxes

Erie City Sustainability Coordinator Sarah Peelman said that it’s especially important for those living near large bodies of water to recycle.

“Because we’re a great lake city, it’s especially important to remember to recycle items and keep litter out of our waterways off the land and from getting washed into the waterways,” said Sarah Peelman, the Erie City Sustainability Coordinator.

Glass can be recycled at their glass plants at 726 West Bayfront Parkway, Glenwood Park Avenue and 1515 East Lake Road.
