Prices at the pump are still the talk of the town.

Spring break season and the price of oil are directly impacting what you are paying at the pump.

The average cost for a gallon of gas in Pennsylvania is $3.80, according to AAA. A year ago, the state average was about $3.22.

That means for the average 14-gallon tank it is costing you $8.12 more every time you fill up your tank.

We asked AAA how you can save money.

“We at AAA have found every 5 miles over 50 miles an hour you’re driving you’re making that car work harder, and the fuel economy is dropping exponentially” said Jim Garrity with AAA.

That means slow down. Another tip, make sure your car is in top operating condition.

“Lighten the load in your car. Combine your errands, take advantage of fuel saving programs where you can,” he said.

Garrity also says to shop around. There are apps that can help you track the cheapest prices in your area.
