Francis ‘Frank’ Golembeski

OBITUARY

Francis Frank Golembeski, 93, passed away March 17 at the Gino Merli Center in Scranton. He is preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Lillian, who passed in 2018 and a son, John, who passed in 1976.

Francis was born July 4, 1932 to the late Stella and Joseph Golembeski. He grew up in Throop and graduated from Throop High School in 1951. He then joined the Navy where he was a Machinist Mate. He was very proud of his service with the Navy and loved telling stories of his time on the USS Severn and the USS Neosho.

He married Lillian in 1957 and they went on to have four beautiful children. After working for Maroon Produce, he started his own tile business, Tile by Frank. After traveling with the Navy, Frank would travel with Lillian. They used to travel all over, from California to the Margarita Islands of Venezuela.

Saying that Frank loved to fish was an understatement. He would travel up to Manicouagan in Quebec with family and friends to fish for Muskie. He loved sharing his knowledge with all who he could and taught his grandsons to fish with pride.

Frank’s family would like to thank the nurses and staff of the Gino Merli Center for the excellent care that he received during his time there.

Frank is survived by his companion, Carolyn McLain; three daughters, Barbara Bisignani and husband Gary, Francine Golembeski, and Maria Mazzone and husband Frank; five grandchildren, Jami and companion Matt, Michelle and husband Brant, John and wife Liz, Nina and husband Jim, and Nick and fianc Jeanette; and six great-grandchildren, Wilkie and Bailee, Kennedy and Brynlee, Jude and Lillian.

The funeral will be Friday in St. Ann’s Monastery and Shrine Basilica, 1233 St. Ann Street, Scranton at 10am. Friends and family may visit at Savino Funeral Home & Cremation Care, 157 S. Main Ave., Scranton from 8:15am to 9:30am. Interment to follow at Cathedral Cemetery.
