Motorists and residents of Bethlehem are being advised to prepare for temporary traffic disruptions as the Dihlabeng Local Municipality rolls out planned road rehabilitation and maintenance on Baartman Street in the central business district (CBD).

The project is scheduled to commence on Thursday 19 March, and will continue on weekdays until its anticipated completion on Wednesday 25 March. During this period, traffic flow along Baartman Street will be partially affected.

The municipality has confirmed that single-lane closures will be implemented in phases, alongside stop-and-go control systems to manage vehicle movement. Trained traffic personnel will be deployed on-site to ensure safety and minimise congestion.

Authorities have urged road users to remain vigilant, adhere to traffic instructions, and allow extra travel time when passing through the affected area. The municipality has also called for public patience as the upgrades are carried out.

“The Dihlabeng Local Municipality appreciates the community’s understanding and cooperation during this and other infrastructure improvement projects,” said spokesperson Tshediso Maitse.
