Waldameer Park is pushing ahead with major upgrades to its waterpark, including a brand-new slide, even as Erie’s unpredictable weather continues to slow construction.

Crews say the early spring conditions made it difficult to stay on schedule, but they’re making a strong push as opening day gets closer.

“Construction for our new water tower, I’m not gonna say delayed, but we struggled to get work done. But with the weather breaking, it seems we’re trying to make as much progress as we can before opening.” Says Brian Gorman

The biggest upgrade this year is the Presque Isle Plunge — a new multi‑slide attraction built for up to a five‑person raft. It features a steep drop designed for families and thrill seekers looking for a new challenge at the park.

“Right behind me is where Waldameer’s newest slide is taking shape — and crews say this will be one of the most significant additions to the waterpark in years, giving families a bigger, better ride experience.” Stephanie Logue reports.

For guests who prefer to relax, the Endless River is also getting a major redesign. Soon to be renamed Winding Rivers, the updated attraction will stretch more than 500 feet long, giving visitors more room to float and unwind during the hottest days of summer.

Waldameer is also bringing back a longtime favorite. After being closed for a year, the Paratrooper ride is returning with a fresh new look.

Meanwhile, the park is preparing for its annual Hiring Week at Rainbow Gardens. Waldameer hires between 650 and 700 employees each season. With about half returning, they are looking to bring on roughly 300 to 350 new workers this year.

“You have a lot of things that families can enjoy together, and I think that’s what the community enjoys. We’re here for the community and we try to make sure it’s accessible and available for anyone that wants to enjoy.”

Leaders say they’re hoping for a strong turnout as they get ready for another busy summer at Waldameer Park and Water World.
