The Philadelphia Flyers will be without their captain, Sean Couturier, who is sidelined on Thursday with an upper-body injury.

Flyers head coach Rick Tocchet addressed the media in Los Angeles before Thursday’s showdown with the Kings, where he announced that Couturier will be out of the lineup.

Couturier had recently made the switch back to the 4th line and seemed to have some real chemistry with Luke Glendening in that hybrid center role. After a stellar debut for the duo, the Flyers will now go with Glendening as the primary 4C.

This season, Couturier has 7 goals and 29 points in 66 games.

When asked about the severity of the injury, Tocchet seemed a little unclear. The Flyers’ bench boss said, “I don’t think it’s a long-term, but I don’t know.”

Seems like there are some questions about his immediate availability following Thursday’s game.

Along with Couturier, the Flyers will be without Glendening and Denver Barkey for Thursday’s contest as well. That was announced on Flyers Pregam Live on NBC Sports Philadelphia. No update has been provided on the Glendening and Barkey. One will be given once made available.

Counting Thursday’s game, the Flyers have 15 remaining this season. They are 7 points out of the final spot in the Metropolitan Division, and 8 points out of the final wild card spot in the Eastern Conference.

Puck drop on Thursday is at 10:30 p.m. EST.

UPDATE

Luke Gledneing is out with a lower-body injury. Denver Barkey’s absence is due to an upper-body injury.
