(WFSB) – They don’t call it March Madness for nothing.
I’m in Philadelphia covering the UConn men’s basketball team as they take on Furman in the first round of the NCAA tournament. But when you’re on the road covering a team, it’s always a good idea to take some time, bounce around and experience the atmosphere of wherever the game is being played.
The best cheesesteak in town
I was hungry, so my first stop was Dalessandro’s, which according to some, arguably has the best Philly cheesesteak in town.
The steak sizzling on the grill, the sautéed onions making your mouth water, and the cheese melting on top. Prepared to perfection, rolled up and ready to go. I couldn’t wait to take a bite.
A city steeped in history
We’re celebrating the United States’ 250th birthday this year. While Philly is known for its great food and fans that are extremely passionate about sports, there’s also a lot of important history in this city for the creation of our country.
The signing of the Declaration of Independence took place inside Independence Hall back in 1776.
Running the Rocky steps
I’m a huge movie guy, so we had to stop by the Philadelphia Museum of Art to see the one and only Rocky Balboa and run the famous Rocky steps.
Time to focus
Philly’s a great city. In order for the Huskies to make the most of their time here, they have to put that loss in the Big East Championship to Saint John’s in the rearview mirror and focus on the opportunity in front of them.
As the great Rocky Balboa once said: “It ain’t about how hard you hit. It’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward. How much you can take and keep moving forward. That’s how winning is done.”
That’s what the Huskies have to do tonight.
