Since the conflict in Iran began, gas prices have surged nationally by an average of a dollar. Folks in Lackawanna County are feeling the pinch at the pumps.

LACKAWANNA COUNTY, Pa. — $3.908. That’s what GasBuddy reports is the average price of a gallon of gas in Pennsylvania. But here in Lackawanna County, multiple gas stations have even higher prices, at least one gas station with prices above $4.

“You know everything is just so ridiculously high, people can’t afford to live, it’s really bad,” said Kevin Losavich of Scranton.

“I don’t like it, but hopefully they will come down at some point,” said Paul Wassel from Taylor.

Some people said they’re not as impacted by the higher gas prices.

“They’re high for a lot of people, I feel sorry for a lot of people. Fortunately, it’s not impacting me at this point,” said Anne Bazil of Scranton.

Since the start of the conflict in Iran, national gas prices have increased by an average of a dollar.

“The $3.99 a gallon, this is insane,” said Jason Gnall from Taylor. “The gas has gone up so much in the last couple of weeks, days, etc. I mean, it’s hard to imagine.”

According to GasBuddy, the surge of prices since the Iran conflict is the largest three-week jump ever, leaving some folks wanting answers as to why the conflict is even happening.

“I think the American people should be kind of given a better explanation for what and the reason why because clearly it’s causing a catastrophe in the Middle East, it’s causing a catastrophe here at home, and it’s not fair, it’s not fair to the American people,” said Gnall.

Although prices are the highest some folks have seen, they say they have faith in the U.S. government and believe gas prices will come down.

“This is the highest it’s been in the last several months, but I really believe President Trump will bring them down,” said Bazil.
