MONTOURSVILLE, LYCOMING CO. (WOLF) — More than $230 million will be invested in road and bridge projects across north central Pennsylvania this year as part of the state’s 2026 construction season.
PennDOT officials say over 100 projects are expected to begin, while dozens of others already underway will continue across a nine-county region that includes Lycoming, Columbia, Northumberland, and Union counties.
The work will focus on improving nearly 90 miles of roadway and addressing dozens of bridges, with projects ranging from resurfacing and repairs to full reconstructions.
Transportation leaders say the investment is aimed at strengthening infrastructure, improving safety, and supporting economic growth throughout the region.
Several large-scale projects are planned or continuing in 2026, including a major reconstruction of Interstate 80 in Columbia County, ongoing work on Interstate 180 in Lycoming County, and continued improvements along Interstate 80 in Montour County.
Bridge work is also a key part of the plan, with multiple rehabilitation and replacement projects scheduled across the region.
Officials say the Central Susquehanna Valley Transportation project will continue to move forward as well, including construction of a new section of highway designed to ease congestion along the Route 11/15 corridor.
PennDOT notes that some of the projects are being supported with federal infrastructure funding, and work schedules may vary depending on weather and other conditions.
Drivers can expect ongoing construction activity throughout the region during the 2026 season.
