Community rallies at ‘Last Minute Brewing Company’ to support veteran Walter Tompkins in his 560-mile bike ride for cancer research from NYC to Niagara Falls.

SCOTT, Pa. — On Saturday in Lackawanna County, community members came out to ‘Last Minute Brewing Company’ in Scott Township in an effort to support a local veteran. 

Walter Tompkins is gearing up to participate in a multi-day bike race with the purpose of raising money for cancer research.

Walters has been training for seven months in preparation for the daunting 5-hundred-and-sixty-mile ride from New York City to Niagara Falls. 

“Really it start off with a personal goal and then really looking for the children in the future,” said Tompkins.

Walters also says that he’s looking forward to the challenge of the race and meeting other people and survivors.
