SCRANTON, LACKWANNA CO. (WOLF) — Fire crews responded to a late-night fire at a well-known Scranton bakery after flames were reported inside an oven.
According to dispatch, crews were called to National Bakery on Capouse Avenue just before midnight. First responders confirmed a working oven fire upon arrival.
Firefighters worked to clear smoke from the building using ventilation fans. No injuries have been reported.
Health and fire inspectors were expected to evaluate the scene following the incident.
In a message shared on social media, the bakery announced it would remain closed for the day. Customers were directed to its North Main Avenue location for service, and staff said they would respond to order inquiries once operations resume.
National Bakery has been a staple in the Pinebrook section of Scranton since it opened in 1946. The family-owned business has built a long-standing reputation for its baked goods, drawing customers from across Northeast Pennsylvania and beyond.
The cause of the fire has not been released.
