Representatives of the Federal Bureau of Investigation laid a wreath at the grave of Special Agent Gregory W. Spinelli on March 16 at St. Bernard Cemetery in Indiana.
Spinelli, originally of Indiana, was slain 53 years ago while in pursuit of a robbery suspect in Charlotte, N.C. At age 24, he was the youngest FBI agent to die in the line of duty.
From left, Father Joseph McCaffrey, a regional vicar for the Diocese of Pittsburgh; retired Special Agents Jim Knights and Dave Zacur; and Joe Mauro, brother-in-law of Spinelli, paid the annual tribute to the agent’s memory.
