The Pocono Irish American Club led the Stroudsburg St. Patrick’s Day Parade down Main Street in Monroe County Sunday afternoon. Pipe bands paraded down as thousands of people watched from the sidelines.

For Farrah Torella from New Jersey, the fire trucks stole the show. “I’m having a lot of fun telling the people to honk their horn, and I’m having a wonderful time. It was my first time, and hi mom and dad!”

Jameson Morgan says the sights and sounds of fire engines rolling through Stroudsburg brought back memories from his childhood. “My grandpa, not my Poppy, was a firefighter in New York. He used to be. He retired.”

As groups aplenty marched down Main Street, children on the sidewalks put on performances of their own. But for many, the sweet treats coming from floats and marchers were the stars of the show.

Rahea Madden of Stroudsburg said, “I come here like most years, sometimes, and when I come here, it’s like the best. ‘What’s the best part about it to you?’ Candy.”

Many folks here have made the Stroudsburg St. Patrick’s Day Parade a yearly tradition.

Brenda Lance of Tannersville said, “Oh, for years! Since I was little. I love the people, the presents, the rides, everything’s nice!”

While it’s the last St. Patty’s parade of the season here in Stroudsburg, covered in a sea of green, the parade means the festivities have only just begun.
